Lewis Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Welcome to Lewis Bed & Breakfast from Enjoy Hebrides, your new gateway to the Outer Hebrides/Western Isles of Scotland.

Isle of Lewis BeachThe Isle of Lewis is an island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Rather confusing to visitors is the fact that the Outer Hebrides are also known as the Western Isles and, furthermore, it is attached to the Isle of Harris and together they are often called the 'Long Island'. Now, to make things just a little more confusing many of the road signs are now in Gaelic, the Gaelic for Lewis is Leòdhas. It is extremely common to hear people talking in the Gaelic language but, happily, the vast majority of Hebrideans have English as the first or second language and those speaking the Gaelic can easily shift back and forth between the two tongues with great ease. This, together with a great many more things, make the Isle of Lewis a fascinating place for a vacation and we offer you details of the various establishments that offer Lewis bed and breakfast accommodation. If you really want to experience the Outer Hebrides we suggest that you also spend some time on the Isle of Harris (see Enjoy Hebrides).

Lewis ChessmanOne of the most famous places on the Isle of Lewis is pictured above, the Calanais standing stones (formerly Callanish Standing Stones but now using the Gaelic name). Found along the spectacular west coast of Lewis this is a 'must see' site of interest together with the nearby broch at Carloway. The west coast of the Isle of Lewis has some of the most amazing beaches (see above) in Scotland and it was at the beach at Uig that the famous Lewis chessmen (see right) were discovered in a sandbank having been exposed after a particularly visious storm. While many folk choose to stay B&B in Stornoway you may want to consider staying bed and breakfast on the west coast.

A vacation in the Outer Hebrides can prove rather expensive if you choose to stay in one of the hotels in Stornoway or elsewhere on Lewis but staying bed and breakfast, as well as saving you a small fortune, can be extremely enjoyable. By staying in B&B accommodation you are able to more fully experience the Hebridean culture. The first thing you will notice when you arrive at your chosen guest house is the wonderful greeting you will receive, the Lewis folk are extremely friendly people who are polite and softly spoken. Your host will make you so welcome you will, almost immediately, feel totally at home, so much in fact that you will soon be thinking of planing your next vacation on Lewis.

Please take a look through our site which has a number of bed and breakfasts on the Isle of Lewis and in Stornoway (the main town on Lewis) with guest house and hotel accommodation to choose from. If you would rather stay in self catering accommodation or you are also thinking of staying on the Isle of Harris as part of your Hebrides vacation please visit Enjoy Hebrides where you will find suitable accommodation.
